Finnish metal sextet FINNTROLL
describe their music as trollish hoedown metal, which is to say that it combines the extreme elements of death metal with traditional Finnish folk melodies. Apparently the result of alcohol-induced experimentation, Finntroll's bizarre fusion began one night in March of 1997 when founding members Somnium (ex-Thy Serpent and Impaled Nazarene) and Katla decided to add the de-tuned guitars and brutal vocals of black metal to Finnish folk melodies played in the humppa style (a form of polka) on the keyboard. The two recorded the demo Rivfader with a drum machine in January of 1998, and were later joined by drummer B. Dominator, guitarist Skrymer, keyboardist Trollhorn, and bassist Tundra
. Its lineup intact, FINNTROLL
released a debut album, Midnattens Widunder, on Spikefarm Records the next year. For their follow-up, Jakens Tid, the band moved deeper into the realm of ancient music, incorporating elements of joik (an obscure chant that is believed to be one of the oldest-known musical forms in Europe) into their death metal maelstrom. Entering the Finnish charts at number 20, Jakens Tid was a surprise success in 2001. As of 2010, the band's discography includes 5 full-length albums and 2 EPs, their latest album Nifelvind was released February 17. Tundra
will continue playing his Ravelle Bass
on current Eurpoean tour and upcoming 2011 world tour.

Fernandes Guitars proudly announces the addition of a master guitarist to our Sustainer Artist list, Marty Friedman. As you may know, Marty began as a Schrapnel solo recording artist and later joined forces with Jason Becker to form the unrivaled dual guitar unit, CACOPHONY, who have a strong influence on today’s top guitarists. Racking up sales of over 10 million records with MEGADETH, Marty continued to record solo records, often embarking on adventurous musical forays, including an album with Golden Globe winner Kitaro. Now residing in Tokyo, Friedman has become a television celebrity appearing as a regular on 5 major networks, he can be seen on mainstream hit TV programs almost every day in Japan.
His latest offering, “LOUDSPEAKER” is exactly the kind of record that Friedman fans have been waiting for. While aggressively breaking through cutting edge uncharted musical territory still in spots it is reminiscent in style of his first solo record “Dragon's Kiss.” Watch the awesome video for the single "Bad D.N.A." on youtube.

1) What type of guitar are you currently playing? (Model, type, specs...)
The Fernandes Ravelle Tremolo. I currently have two and the slight difference is that one is equipped with both the EMG 81 and 85 and the other is equipped with the EMG 81 and the Fernandes Sustainer.
2) How does the Fernandes Ravelle guitar influence and interact with Inquisition's music?
This guitar offers excellent low end thanks to that thick mahogany, heaviness is a must for Inquisition and lows are its foundation. The maple top allows for enough highs to detail our power chords without sounding too bright or thin and they really surface nicely when I let the notes ring out. In my playing I use big power chords and every note counts, if the lows kill the highs for example, then a song is damaged. I need balance and this guitar is very much balanced. The sustain is superb, another vital need in our music and its atmosphere. With little sustain we risk sounding empty.
Above all, I am a slave to tone, paired with the right amp big or small I get what I am looking for every time and combined with the active pickups it’s a brutal guitar for brutal music. Read more..
joins the family and takes a Vertigo Deluxe
for CLOSE YOUR EYES
performances at The Fame In The Untamed Tour, alongside STICK IT TO YOUR GUNS.
Grab a copy of their debut album on Victory Records, 'We Will Overcome'. CLOSE YOUR EYES channeled the energy of classic DIY, hardcore punk and took it a step further by applying real melody, clean vocals and incredibly catchy hooks; never sacrificing the ferociousness that accompanies genre. The band finally found their footing after taking the bare-boned power of a band like COMEBACK KID and mixing it with the melodies of RISE AGAINST and A DAY TO REMEMBER, all while infusing their shared dedication to their faith.
